Brendon Thearle

Born, residing and performing in Malta.

​

Brendon entered the world of theatre at the age of five where he joined Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools (Malta) and trained in musical theatre (acting, singing and dancing) for well over 15 years and performed in such roles as Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast Jnr. (2012), Detective Shrank in West Side Story (2015) and King Charles in Pippin (2016). He's also acted abroad with Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools (Oxford) where he performed in such roles as Lurch in The Addams Family (2015).

 

Brendon later joined FM Youth Theatre where he performed in 2016's Å»iguÅ»ajg festival with Ilberiaħ 'il Quddiem (2016) as Salvu, as well as the devised piece After Medea (2017). He then joined Studio 18 where he performed as Bert in the second run of Dear Pete (2017), as well as in 2018's Å»iguÅ»ajg festival with the promenade devised piece; iLand (2018) and as Zeus in DripFeed (2019).​

 

He completed a Bachelor in Theatre (Honours) degree, achieving a First Class Honours, at the School of Performing Arts within the University of Malta and was also the President of the University Students of Performing Arts Association (USPA).

Brendon has delved into the directorial seat where he directed the one act play Angel (2015) for Stagecoach's One Act Play Festival in which Angel won; Best Actress, Most Promising Actor and Best Production and The Fourth Wall (2022) for MADC's One Act Play Festival in which The Fourth Wall won; Best Actor, Most Promising Actor, Best Director and Best Production and was nominated for; Most Promising Actress. He has also co-directed (along with co-writing and co-producing) along with the rest of the Ħassle Mejjet Theatre Collective and performed as Adam in An Ode to Teen Angst (2018).

 

Brendon also directed his debut sold out production and co-produced Pandora (2019) along with the rest of the theatre collective, he co-directed (along with co-writing and co-producing) and returning as Adam in the online mini-series; An Ode to Teen Angst: The COVID Chronicles (2021) and co-directed, along with Benjamin Abela, L-Aħħar SiÄ¡ra (2021), which was a co-production between Ħassle Mejjet Theatre Collective and Just Another Collective, with support from Å»iguÅ»ajg and Studio 18.

Other directorial credits include The Fourth Wall (2022) for MADC's One Act Play Festival in which The Fourth Wall won; Best Actor, Most Promising Actor, Best Director and Best Production and was nominated for; Most Promising Actress, Nostrum (2023), Murder on the Dancefloor (2025) and most recently; 4.48 Psychosis (2025)

He has represented Studio 18 overseas, taking on the title of ‘Cultural Ambassador’ together with Benjamin Abela, wherein he helped develop and write iLand (2018), as well as, write along with Benjamin Abela; HELP! - Barbetti Go Bohemian (2019). Brendon has also written many other scripts and stories which he is hoping to develop some into fully-fledged performances in the near future.

Brendon has also performed in; Unifaun Theatre Productions' rendition of William Shakespeare's Macbeth (2019) as Lennox, MADC's traditional yearly performance of Shakespeare's classics; The Tempest (2019) as Sebastian and The Merry Wives of Windsor (Terrace) (2022) as Frank Ford, as Mr. Scruples in Manoel Theatre's opera for 2019's Å»iguÅ»ajg in The Impresario (2019)as Captain Barbuljatu in FM Theatre Productions' Christmas pantomime; The Little Mermaid - The Panto Under the Sea (2019), as a Journeymen in the promenade devised piece; TEN (2020), as Ron Miller in MADC's rendition of Breaking the Code (2022)as Gary in MADC's A Kick in the Baubles (2022), as AI Isaac in Chewing Productions' Pastizz x'jaħbat? | A First Look at a New Play (2023), as Jeremy in Ħassle Mejjet Theatre Collective's Popolazzjoni: 4 (2023) and as as Dame Widow Twankey in Teatru Manoel’s Learning & Participation Programme: TOI TOI’s The Great Little Panto Show (2023, 2024), and in MADC's The Coarse Acting Show (2025) among many others.

​

Brendon is an official member and is currently Chairperson for the Youth Committee within the Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) and is also a member of the 'Broadcasting, Film and Stage Committee' within the General Workers Union (GWU).

​
